# Article markup without invented requirements

## Use the appropriate article type

Google documents Article, NewsArticle and BlogPosting for its article guidance. Choose the type that describes the content. Its current core guide lists recommendations rather than mandatory article properties.

## Represent authors and dates

Use a separate Person or Organization for each author. A name and a profile URL help identify the author. Publication and modification dates should reflect real events, and timestamps should include a timezone where possible.

## Read warnings in context

CheckMySchema warns about absent recommended fields, including dates where applicable. These warnings do not mean that an article is invalid or ineligible for Google News. Images should represent the article and meet Google’s separate image guidance.
